albacore tuna crudoIt was a balmy evening in Toronto and we took a leisurely stroll down Yonge Street to Lucien. We were a little early for our reservation but I had just arrived in Toronto after an early morning flight from Vancouver, and was really hungry.

I was happy that we were seated immediately, and ready for my first glass of wine in a couple of weeks. While we were perusing the menu I sipped a glass of Astrolabe Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand.

We decided to share an appetizer and opted for the sashimi style albacore tuna; the albacore tuna crudo, with "pastrami" oil and rye crisps.

For our main course both of us chose the Paradise Farms Black Angus Rib-eye with caramelized onions, mushrooms, Swiss chard and pont-neuf potatoes.

My steak was perfectly cooked to a medium-rare and the potatoes were delicious. I enjoyed a glass of Malbec with my steak.

We decided to share a dessert and chose the black sesame and cocoa pudding with white sesame ice cream, walnut praline and vanilla meringue. I loved the contrast of the sesame flavour with the vanilla.

This was an excellent meal and a great start to my short stay in Toronto.
