August 2020

I've never been a runner or jogger. Dance has been my primary exercise for years. A brisk 20 minute walk uphill to the studio, a high energy lesson and the walk back home a couple of times a week has kept me in shape and maintained a stable weight.

Dancing came to a halt at the end of February. For the first couple of weeks, isolating in my condo, I kept myself entertained with short dance workouts, and with mental apologies to my teachers, played with making short videos of my bad singing and dancing.

Sitting on my patio watching the water ferries motor round boaters, kayakers and paddle boarders, I am enjoying the light, fruity tastes of rosé wines from the Okanagan. I point out to my fellow sippers that we are getting some anti-oxidant resveratrol, though not as much as from red wines but they are more interested in the taste than health benefits. Go figure.

Do any of you do cryptic crossword puzzles? My favourite Saturday morning ritual after my early morning walk, is to sit down with a mug of dark roast coffee and cream and tackle the cryptic crossword by Emily Cox and Henry Rathvon.
